In 2019, I connected with Christelyn Karazin through social media. She is an author, YouTuber, and consultant focusing on dating and relationships, etiquette, nutrition, fitness, and overall wellness for black women worldwide. At the time, she was looking for writers to contribute to her growing blog, to cover similar topics that would appeal to black women from different perspectives. The website, beyondblackwhite.com, was catered to black women interested in interracial and interpersonal relationships, as well as developing their personal brand, image and social capital. The blog is currently on hiatus, but at the height of the blog distribution, the site attracted approximately 250,000 monthly visitors, with 7,000 to 10,000 unique visitors monthly.
As a freelancer writer for the blog, I mainly facilitated interviews on behalf of the blog. Some of my articles featured fitness enthusiasts, author spotlights, and opinion pieces. During my tenure, I wrote about 100 articles. The website has been refreshed in recent years, which hid original comments on the website, but I would often review dozens of comments under the article and on various social media platforms. I hope to continue my writing journey in personal and professional endeavours.
