I’m pleased to share the next step in my swimming proficiency journey. Originally, I swam as a child for a year in elementary school. I always promised myself that I would go back whenever I had the chance. Just before the pandemic, I started adult swimming classes, before moving to a new city with different swimming standards. Once things reopened, I was eager to restart my journey.
When speaking with staff members at the community centre, I was encouraged to take classes more advanced than the adult swim programs. When speaking with friends, they suggested pursuing lifeguard certification. The first course in my journey was the Bronze Medallion. This class taught me so much, and helped me to sharpen my skills, and learn Emergency First Aid (CPR B) techniques. It took two tries, as I needed to take my fitness to the next level, but I appreciate every step of the journey. Many thanks to my instructors, community centre staff, and classmates for the enriching experience.
